WE GOT US NOW intends to amplify the issues that are most important to children and young adults impacted by parental incarceration.
WE GOT US NOW curates and creates informative content in the form of events, discussions and multimedia campaigns as an means to help educate the general public about the issues, challenges and injustices children and young adults impacted by parental incarceration face at the local, state and national levels.
WE GOT US NOW founder, Ebony Underwood, was the leading voice for children and young adults in the #cut50 CLEMENCY NOW: Hope for the Holidays, a national campaign that brought over 50 children and families together in Fall 2016 urging President Obama to grant clemency to their incarcerated parents and loved ones. Several families were united with their loved ones through the success of our collective efforts.
WE GOT US NOW presents PERSPECTIVES: Voices of Children and Young Adults impacted by parental incarceration. Hosted by Google and in partnership with state-based organizations: The Osborne Association (NY), Generation 2050 (FL) & Unlocking Futures (OH) as an effort to highlight the experiences and uplift the resiliency of children and young adults of incarcerated parents and eliminate the stigma and shame that comes with parental incarceration.
WE GOT US NOW panel discussion at the Bay Area Summit 2017 on children of incarcerated parents. This panel discussion featured youth from local organizations in the Bay Area including: Project What!, A Place for Grace, POP the Club and was moderated by WE GOT US NOW founder, Ebony Underwood to discuss how important visiting is for children with incarcerated parents and the carceral mechanisms that make visiting our incarcerated parents extremely challenging.
